Overview

As a Shooter / Editor at Hogarth, working on our embedded client team in Chicago, IL, you will acutely understand the creative and technical landscape to produce innovative MARCOM, including video and still content.  

You enjoy editing as much as capturing the story – whether through video or stills. You’re immersed in internet culture, social media, viral videos, etc. If this is you, then we’re looking for your talent as a Shooter/Editor on our Content Studio team to shoot and edit digital video content into a finished project that matches creative vision. Ultimately, as a film and video shooter/editor, you should be able to bring sight and sound together in order to tell a cohesive story.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Serve as operator on studio and location video and still shoots, including talent led concepts, talking head interviews and product only shoots
  • Work with Producers and PMs to help schedule and manage production(s), including equipment requirements and deliver in a timely manner
  • Work with PMs, creative producers, graphic designers and more to create videos combining raw footage, photography, motion graphics, and audioBuild edits, engage in producer sitdowns and reviews, and implement notes from producers and executives
  • Develop and execute unique looks, sets, and atmospheres that is visually compelling, aligned with brand guidelines, and appealing to our key demographics
  • Edit original content, sizzle reels, and marketing materials as needed using Adobe Premiere
  • Translate a brief to meet production team’s needs and specifications
  • Review shooting script and raw material to create a shot decision list based on scenes’ value and contribution to continuity
  • Input music, dialogues, graphics and effects
  • Create rough and final cuts
  • Ensure logical sequencing and smooth running
  • Maintain multiple, ongoing projects at once
  • Maintain technical standards of all post-production content
  • Consult with stakeholders from production to post-production process
  • Provide support to production team members, including set-up/clean-up of shoots, running teleprompter, basic maintenance of camera and lighting equipment, and general studio support as necessary
  • Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and industry’s best practices to maximize efficiency.

Qualifications

Skills

  • Proven work experience as a video shooter and editor
  • Experience with audio mixing
  • Solid experience with digital technology and editing software packages (e.g. Premiere, After Effects and Final Cut)
  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop; Mac OS
  • Demonstrable video editing ability with a strong portfolio
  • Thorough knowledge of timing, motivation and continuity
  • Familiarity with special effects, 3D and compositing
  • Creative mind and storytelling skills
  • Maintains familiarity with current culture video trends, social platforms and the relevance of fast and slow trends.
  • Exhibits an innate sense of curiosity.

Requirements

  • BS degree in film studies, cinematography or related field
  • 2-3 years shooting / editing experience
