  • Overview

    The Head of Edit Support will manage the utilization of the Edit Support team, working closely with the HOP, Post Scheduler, Studio Manager and Producers. 

    Responsibilities

         Management of the Edit Support team:

    • Quality control to ensure Edit Support team meets the highest standards
    • Ensure any necessary training is provided to edit support staff so that they are comfortable and competent at completing any task that is expected of them
    • Train new staff
    • Performance feedback to Edit Support team
    • Monitor and approve timesheets and leave
    • Team alignment and career development

         Other:

    • Meet with Studio Manager, Senior Operators and Producers to discuss best practices and find solutions to any issues that may arise from current workflows
    • Troubleshoot issues and relay necessary information to Studio Manager and Post Tech team
    • Responsible for media asset management of current projects and ensure all Edit Support staff are aware of correct media asset folder structures and workflows
    • Provide support for Editors and Edit Support staff when necessary
    • Act as technical liaison for producers to achieve streamlined workflow.
    • Confidently interact with Clients and Producers
    • Develop working relationships with Edit Support, Editors, Flame Ops, Audio Engineers and other senior operators
    • Assist Studio Manager in creating and maintaining workflow documentation to ensure new Edit Support staff and freelancers have access to any relevant information they need to do their job correctly and efficiently
    • Work with HOP, Studio Manager, Senior Operators and Producers to review current processes and technologies and implement new systems to ensure maximum efficiency across all post production departments
    • Work with HOP and Studio manager to host regular operator meetings

    Qualifications

    • 2+ years’ experience in a post-production edit support position
    • Strong understanding of post production workflows
    • Strong understanding of server-based asset management
    • Strong leadership qualities
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong knowledge of file formats, codecs, and general specs
    • Fluent with Adobe Premier Pro CC
    • Comfortable using Compression Software (Compressor, Media Encoder, MPG Stream clip)
    • Basic knowledge of After Effects
    • Basic knowledge of other other Adobe CC software (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator)
    • Experience training Junior Edit Support staff
    • Experience with QC and preparing media for delivery
