  • Overview

    The Role:

     

    The Studio Manager will work closely with mechanical artists, project management and print production teams to ensure mechanical production requirements are met and the highest possible quality standards are adhered to.

    Responsibilities

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage all the workflow of the busy in-house design studio
    • Responsible for building and prepping mechanical files for release to production using Adobe Creative Suite software
    • Prepare color separation and retouching of images
    • Liaise with Project Management and Print Production teams on print preparation
    • While honoring the design intent as much as possible, the mechanical artist will be responsible for the iteration and versioning of localised artwork files
    • Act as a brand QC/Guardian – always ensure brand guidelines, QC checklists and procedures are followed
    • Manages a high-volume workload, including foreign language versions, if required
    • Inspire and proactively strive to get the best out of each team member, offer coaching and new opportunity to expand skill-sets
    • Oversee all design requirements from artwork to print production
    • Oversee communications with account service and print production teams, and resolve any problems with artwork that may arise
    • Create a strong pool of freelance designers
    • Maintain and improve file management process and procedures
    • Collate and despatch all materials required for printers and/or client

    Qualifications

    Requirements

    • 6-8 years of experience in a studio environment, in which at least 3 years of studio management experience is required
    • Bachelor’s degree required in a design related discipline, such as graphic design, visual communication, information design, or interaction design
    • Solid time management, planning and organisation skills
    • Well versed in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
    • Good knowledge of print, colour retouching, and digital artwork production
    • Excellent organisational skills, and outstanding project and time management skills
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills
    • Native English speaker. Proficiency in written and oral foreign languages is a bonus
